In the space of what is now an office tower, once stood one of the most popular live theaters in Los Angeles, the Biltmore Theater. In this photo we can see the excitement of the grand opening of one of the biggest musical Broadway hits of the 1920s, “Sally” about a girl who rises to fame through the Ziegfeld follies. The music was by Jerome Kern whose score featured “Look for the Silver Lining.” In fact, this is the production that opened the theater, on March 3, 1924.
