sunset tower standard oil gas station 1933I think this photo is “so L.A.” it’s almost ridiculous. On the left we have the Sunset Tower, a hotel that opened on the Sunset Strip in 1929. And on the right we have that quintessential L.A. sight: a gas station. The Sunset Tower is still standing, and is one of the greatest examples of Art Deco in Los Angeles.
