On Dave DeCaro’s ever-interesting blog, I found a photo of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub (at the Ambassador Hotel) that I’d never seen before: the stage. It looks like it’s quite large—larger than what I’ve been picturing—and perfect for when the Big Band era kicked off.

My fondest memory of being at the Coconut Grove was watching the great Lena Horne perform. My 2nd fondest was the night my aunt (LOP) was given a banquet for her 35 years working for W.R. Hearst. Quite a contrast.
