I’m not sure if the photographer took this photo on the diagonal so that he could fit in both the Carthay Circle sign and the iconic tower, but I like that he did. It gives the shot a dynamic feel. It was taken in 1937 for the premiere of a Paramount picture called “High, Wide and Handsome” which I can only assume refers to the male lead, Randolph Scott, and neither of his co-stars, Irene Dunne and Dorothy Lamour.
