Sardi’s was a chic restaurant at 6315 Hollywood Boulevard, near Vine Street. It opened in 1932 by the Montmartre’s Eddie Bandstatter, and was destroyed in a fire on November 2nd, 1936, so I’m guessing this ad appeared circa mid-1930s. For such an upscale place in the 1930s, 75 cents for lunch and $1.25 for dinner sounds pretty reasonable to me. I also have to wonder if the stars featured here were compensated for appearing in this ad – somehow I doubt it.
