Lobby of the Garden Court Apartments at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard, in 1926The Garden Court Apartments at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard (near Grauman’s), opened on New Year’s Eve, 1919 (Hollywood Boulevard was still semi-residential.) It was very grand for its time – each suite included a baby grand, oil paintings and oriental carpets, and became home of some of early Hollywood’s celebrities, including Louis B. Mayer, Rudolph Valentino and Lillian Gish. Finding a photo of the exterior of the Garden Court isn’t too hard, but I’ve never seen what the main lobby looked like until I discovered this photo. It was taken in 1926.
