The Players nightclub opened summer of 1940 by director Preston Sturges. It stood at 8225 Sunset, not far from the Garden of Allah, so I’m sure the Garden’s residents were frequent habitués. I was excited to see this color photo of The Players nightclub because it brings the place to life, which is what I try to do in the 4th book in my Garden of Allah series, Searchlights and Shadows. A couple of scenes take place at The Players, including one in which Kathryn stands at the window above “PRESTON” watching wartime traffic make its way along the Sunset Strip.
