Of all the interior shots I’ve seen of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub at the Ambassador Hotel, I’ve never seen (or at least noticed) this section seated under a striped canopy. Notice the exotic light fixtures hanging from above – I’m guessing that they were looking to duplicate the feel of a desert tent, much like you see in Valentino’s movie “The Sheik” (from which the Cocoanut Grove took its famous palm trees.) If that’s what they were going for, it works for me!
