Interior of the Max Factor salon on Highland Ave, Hollywood, 1933

Interior of the Max Factor salon on Highland Ave, Hollywood, 1933In 1928, Hollywood make up guru, Max Factor, moved his salon from downtown L.A. to Hollywood, and in 1935, he opened his own building on Highland Ave in Hollywood, just south of Hollywood Boulevard. It quickly became a mecca for Los Angeles women—both the rich and the famous. This shot (from 1933) gives us an idea of how classy the place was. Check out all those wonderful Art Deco lines! The building is still there and now houses the Hollywood Museum. I have a Facebook album of shots I took there: http://on.fb.me/1BPNBjr

If only this glamour existed nowadays.

  2. Hi Martin: Thank you for posting these; our family was so closely allied with the House of Westmore that I never was aware of the beautiful Max Factor building.
Since I love learning new facts, I especially enjoyed these. Thank you, your friend, L
