It’s been a very long time since downtown L.A. has looked like this. This is the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Figueroa Street at the top end of downtown in 1924. The intersection doesn’t even have any traffic lights although will all those vehicles and a streetcar line, it could probably do with one. Nowadays, this corner is where the Orsini apartment complex stands, right near where the Hollywood freeway meets the Harbor freeway. (Although why anyone would want to live next to that nightmare is beyond me.)
