  1. Jeremy M Brown says:

Max Steiner, noted film composer, his bar is still there but in Long Beach, 2500 E Anaheim Street. I know, not old Hollywood. Wish some of these places would reopen. The Pig and Whistle sure looks great!

  2. Stuart Williamson says:

I was surprised to find o mention of the Beverly Cavern, where Kid Ory’s group played every Friday, or The Haig, where Errol Garner, Oscar Peterson and other jazz pianists were featured. y tie was around 1950, but I believe both these venues had been around for a while at that time – the time of the big Musicians Strike.

  3. dee Lisanti says:

    Thanks for this…

  4. PT Gillen says:

Great find. One of these bars was owned by my grandparents and actually named for my Grandmother Laurene.

  5. Michael L says:

Streets of Paris – 6726 Hollywood Blvd… Benny Carter Orchestra featuring a young Miles Davis played there in March of ’46. It’s a Scientology “Information Center” now… Happy the building is still standing.
