Carpenter’s Drive-in restaurant, corner of Sunset Blvd and Vine St, Hollywood, 1930s. This is Carpenter’s Drive-in restaurant, which stood on the corner of Sunset Blvd and Vine St, Hollywood in the 1930s. This is back when you could get a sirloin steak sandwich for 25 cents and a fried oyster sandwich for 20 cents. (Does anyone still serve fried oyster sandwiches?) I also like the “Ben Hur Delicious Drip Coffee” sign. I’ve seen Ben Hur on other vintage photos – I guess they advertised a lot.
