This color view of Hollywood and Vine is so 1950s, isn’t it? I love how nicely everyone is dressed—no ripped tee-shirts and cut-off jeans shorty-shorts. I also love the woody station-wagon entering the intersection. But I especially love how you can look down Vine Street and see the hat-shaped sign for the Brown Derby restaurant. I’m sure everybody in this photo took it for granted—and why not? It’d been there since 1929—but I’d love the opportunity to decide that I’ll go have lunch at the Brown Derby right after I’ve finished shopping at The Broadway department store on the corner.
