A 1928 shot of the building which will later become the Vine Street Brown Derby in HollywoodThis shot was taken in 1928 and is of the building that would soon house the Vine Street Brown Derby, which would open on St Valentine’s Day, 1929. The large arch is where the entrance to the restaurant will be, and the smaller arch to its right will become the entrance The Bamboo Room cocktail bar in 1936. According to the caption on this photo, the building was originally designed and constructed as a studio office for Cecil B. DeMille. That was news to me—has anybody reading this heard that before?
