This shot was taken on a night in 1946 when some big preview (at least five searchlights worth) was going on at the Crest Theater on Westwood Boulevard, just south of UCLA. Amazingly, the Crest is still around and if you have a chance, stick your face in the foyer – it’s an Art Deco dream.
