Sherman (soon-to-become West Hollywood) in 1922

Sherman (soon-to-become West Hollywood) in 1922Before West Hollywood was West Hollywood, it was called Sherman. The name change was adopted in 1925, and this photo was taken in 1925. That main road we can see angling down to the left is Santa Monica Blvd with Sunset Blvd heading straight west near the foot of the Hollywood hills. At this time, Sunset wasn’t even paved yet. Meanwhile, check out all that empty land! If they ever do invent a time machine, I’m going to go back to 1922 and buy up as much of it as I possibly can.
