The neon lights of the Loyola Theater marquee and facade, Los Angeles, 1972.Even though this photo was taken in 1972, which is way outside my usual focus (1920s to 1950s), the Loyola Theater was built in 1946 so I’m grandfathering it in—also because it’s pretty stunning looking. And also because it’s still there, albeit not a theater anymore. It’s on Sepulveda Blvd en route to LAX. It’s become a little tradition of mine to look out for it whenever I go to the airport.
