High Tower, Hollywood Hills, 1925

The High Tower elevator at Alta Loma Terrace, Hollywood, 1925The High Tower elevator at High Tower Drive is still around, but it sure as heck doesn’t look like this anymore. Nestled into the Hollywood hills south of the Hollywood Bowl, is a pocket of homes only accessible by foot. Residents of this area park in garages at the foot of the hill and have exclusive access via an elevator. Non-residents can gain roam through on foot—it’s one of me favorite place to take out-of-towners. This photo was taken in 1925, but these days—like everything—the whole area is far more built up. Below is a photo of how it looks now.
