Looking north up Vine Street from Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, circa 1940s

Looking north up Vine Street from Sunset Boulevard, circa 1940sYesterday, I was writing a scene where Marcus and Kathryn leave the Vine Street Brown Derby in a hurry and run down Vine toward Sunset. So I went looking for a photo that showed me what Vine Street looked like in the 1940s. This was the first one I came to. And it was in color. Perfect! Is it just me, or was the sky bluer back then? Or is that the Kodachrome talking?

Martin, these are spectacular. I had no idea you had an archive like this. I expect “Twisted Boulevard” to arrive my place of employment (Fordham Library) within the next few days. I’m looking forward! I already rather regard, Katherine, Marcus and Gwendoline as old friends! All the best with your latest endeavor!
