Hollywood Bowl's first shell 1926The Hollywood Bowl opened in 1922, but didn’t get its first shell until 1926, which is when this photo as taken. Along with its first shell, the Bowl also got its first permanent seating. Apparently, the acoustics of this shell were rather poor, so the next year Frank Lloyd Wright’s son Lloyd Wright built a pyramidal shell out of leftover lumber from an earlier film production of “Robin Hood.”
