corner of Wilcox and Selma Avenues looking north toward Hollywood Boulevard, 1937

corner of Wilcox and Selma Avenues looking north toward Hollywood Boulevard, 1937Here’s a real Angeleno film noir sort of night for you. This is 1937 and we’re near the corner of Wilcox and Selma Avenues looking north toward Hollywood Boulevard. We can see the Hotel Mark Twain, the Warner Brothers’ Hollywood Theater, and the twin KFWB radio masts (which are still there today.) All we need is a trench coat, a set of brass knuckles, and a dame with a secret, and we’d be all set.

  1. Al Donnelly says:

This is the Hollywood Wilcox Hotel at 6500 Selma. The post office is partly seen on the NW corner and here are some images including the hotel: https://hollywoodpartnership.com/post/have-you-ever-wonderedwho-is-this-man

[The offset tall spire is as always, the landmark Blessed Sacrament Church bell tower on Sunset towards Highland.]
