In this 1929 photo, we’re on Wilshire Blvd looking east toward downtown L.A. The corner facing us with the billboard is the corner where the May Company department store would go in 10 years later. On the opposite corner where the little white house is, was once Rogers Airport, and would later become the iconic circular Simon’s drive-in restaurant (http://wp.me/p5XK3w-1OF) and is now the Johnies 50s diner. And check out those oil wells pumping away in the background. Looks like they’re spread over what is now Park La Brea.
