Los Angeles has a justifiable reputation as being a city that doesn’t value its past, so it’s always nice to find a photo of a structure that’s still around, even if the company who built it isn’t. This is a view (probably 1930s) of MGM’s Washington Blvd main studio gate through which their “more stars than there are in heaven” drove each morning. These columns are still there and it’s nice to see that the Sony-Columbia studios have kept them, even though they’re no longer an entrance.
Love this photo of my favorite Golden Age studio as it captures what the main entrance looked like when Harlow, Gable, Loy and other huge MGM stars were on the lot churning out movies that are still loved many years later!
