Nothing but orange groves as far as you can see. Below is a photo of what it looks like today.

Can’t you just for a moment imagine breathing in all that sweet orange scent that at one time filled the Los Angeles air? Now all you smell is the unsweet odor of gas fumes!

Since I never tire of listening to stories set in the Golden Age of Hollywood, friends I once knew who grew up in LA during the ’20s and ’30s confirmed that still then there were many various fruit orchards not yet replaced by housing and industry.

Thanks to pics like this one, we can see how beautiful and spacious LA once was! Jean

BEACHWOOD DR., AND GOWER STS., BOTH RUN NORTH & SOUTH.

I GREW UP ON GORDON ST., ONE BLOCK EAST OF BEACHWOOD, BETWEEN SUNSET & FOUNTAIN, AND THEY NEVER INTERSECTED??

    • Thanks for taking the time to clarify that, Michael. It’s been 8 years since I posted that photo, so I’m no longer sure where I got it, but I assume that I took the information from the original caption.

  3. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE I S A PLACE WHERE
BEACHWOOD DR., AND GOWER ST. INTERSECT.

YOUR PHOTO WAS TAKEN NEAR THE 2500 BLOCK OF BEACHWOOD DR., LOCATED NORTH OF FRANKLIN AVE.

DAMN, I HATE TO GIVE BAD INFORMATION.

    MY APOLOGIES !!
