View from Los Angeles City Hall during WWII dim out, with Hall of Records is in the foreground, 1943I sometimes wonder if it’s from photos like this that film noir emerged. This 1943 shot was taken from City Hall during a WWII dim out when the West Coast was considered a seriously potential target from Japanese attack. In the foreground we can see the beautiful and long-lamented Hall of Records building.

These lights seem awfully bright for a dim out, don’t you think?
