Panoramic photograph of the Beverly Hills Hotel, 1914Pretty much the only thing in this 1914 panoramic photo of the Beverly Hills Hotel that’s still the same is the building itself. (Ironic considering the unremitting glee with which Angelenos tear down their buildings.) Everything else we can see here is now—101 years later—so completely grown over than we can barely see the hotel from Sunset Boulevard.

    What an unforgettable picture. I think of all the times I was at the hotel and it never looked anything like this, sorry to say. Best wishes always.
