A lot about Los Angeles has changed since this photo was taken in 1950, but this view probably looks much the same. This photo was taken from Mt. Lowe, which is a 5600-foot scenic lookout in the San Gabriel Mountains just north of Pasadena. Mt. Lowe was much better known at the turn of century due to a well-known railway that took people from the bottom of the hill to a 70-room hotel at the very top. It was quite the thing for a while, but can you imagine going hiking in those Victorian outfits?
