Los Angeles at night, as seen from Mt. Lowe in 1950.jpgA lot about Los Angeles has changed since this photo was taken in 1950, but this view probably looks much the same. This photo was taken from Mt. Lowe, which is a 5600-foot scenic lookout in the San Gabriel Mountains just north of Pasadena. Mt. Lowe was much better known at the turn of century due to a well-known railway that took people from the bottom of the hill to a 70-room hotel at the very top. It was quite the thing for a while, but can you imagine going hiking in those Victorian outfits?
