What a shame we no longer have this grand old lady to behold. This is the Hollywood Hotel, which stood at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave from 1902 to 1956. This shot was taken some time in the 1940s. I love the little ornamental arch right on the corner—it’s just a little more atmospheric than what’s there now: the front door to The Gap. Love all these wonderful pics of the Hollywood Hotel. Wish I could have seen it with my own eyes during its glory days. Thanks for sharing these. Jean
When the Hollywood Hotel was demolished in 1956, that marked the beginning of the end of the Golden Days of Hollywood
