The Hollywood Studio Club was established in 1916 by the YWCA with the support of Mrs. C. B. DeMille and Mary Pickford to provide a decent place for young women coming to Hollywood to live. The first space (for 10 girls) was at 6129 Carlos Ave then moved to 1215 Lodi Place in a building designed by Julia Morgan (who later went on to design Hearst’s San Simeon). The new building housed Peg Entwistle, Kim Novak, Dorothy Malone, Donna Reed, Rita Moreno, Barbara Eden, and Sharon Tate. This is the living room at Lodi Place—it looks so nice, I’m surprised any of them left. Hmmm, maybe it was the strict “No Men Allowed” rule.

And yes, it’s still there – it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. You can find more info on its history here.
