This aerial shot of Beverly Hills was taken in 1919—just five years after the city was incorporated and investors developed what had been fields of lima beans. The road cutting from right to left around the center of the photo is Santa Monica Blvd, and the diagonal one is Wilshire. I wonder if the people how built all those early homes we can see in this shot realized how smart their investment was, given what Beverly Hills would evolve into.
