Corner of Hollywood and Vine, Christmas, circa 1950s

Corner of Hollywood and Vine, Christmas, circa 1950sA couple of days ago I posted photos of Hollywood Boulevard at Christmas in around 1950. This is a similar shot taken later into the decade. The store next to the Melody Lane restaurant on the Hollywood and Vine corner (which by the time may have been Hody’s) is now Harris & Frank. I know that they were a menswear store, but can anyone here tell me what type of store it was. Upscale? Middle market? Formalwear?

I remember the name of Harris & Frank! Very nice reputation! My father bought some suits there, & he was very particular! He worked at the Water & Power, as an architect, so he always wore nice suits! He designed the Wm Mullholland Fountain on Los Feliz, later they called it the “Koolaid Founntain” bcuz it changed colors!!
What I want to mention, r the beautiful Christmas trees over the light poles! I just watched the Hollywood lane Parade yesterday & did not see them! I loved seeing them in ur pic. Thank u!

Thank u for showing all of us Californians, out of state, a piece of our history! Keep working on ur novel!! H
