The caption for this photo of the Carthay Circle Theater said it was taken at the Invitational preview of “The Song of Bernadette” in 1943. I’m a bit surprised that they’ll pull out all the stops—and searchlights—for a preview, but, well, you know Hollywood: any excuse to beat the ballyhoo drum. I suspect this is actually the premiere, but either way, it makes for a great photo, don’t you think?
