Somebody thought a lovely fountain would look nice in front of the stage at the Hollywood Bowl until someone else thought, “If we take out that fountain and build a bunch of boxes, we could charge a lot more money to people who want to sit up real close!” This shot is circa 1953—I don’t remember seeing the bowl itself this shade of copper green.
