It’s hard to imagine the LA skyline without our iconic City Hall. (TV’s Superman wouldn’t have his Daily Planet building!) From 1928 to 1972, it was the tallest structure in LA, which is why it dominated views of downtown. But when photographed like this (at dawn, I suspect) it’s not hard to see how film noir took advantage of it. Its blazing lights and inky shadows reek of mystery.
What a beautiful photograph! Thanks for sharing, love L.
Martin, this is so atmospheric! Wonder if this could even be bordering nightfall? Love all the photos you share.
Hi Louella!
