Here we have Hollywood Blvd, looking west towards Highland Ave, during the Christmas season some time in the 1930s. My favorite part of this photo is the sign on the right for brassieres called “Her Secret” – with a huge sign like that, I guess it wasn’t a secret for long.
Thank you for posting this picture of Hollywood Blvd. I’ve been looking for old pictures from the 1930’s showing Hollywood Blvd. as my father, Tyrus Wong was an art student at Otis Art Institute and painted the original sketch for the Her Secret Brassiere company. He mentioned how the boss wanted the bra painted white on black background. My Dad was young and didn’t know really what a bra was and the boss had his secretary demonstrate by putting the bra on over her clothes. My dad thought it was something white women wore to keep their chest warm! My father just did the original sketch
and they had a sign painter paint the mural on the building. I’ve heard the story for many years and finally to see this photo further illustrates his story.
Thank you !
