Photos of the exterior of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre aren’t too hard to find, but interior shots are far more rare. This one is the foyer inside Grauman’s, taken in 1927—the year it opened. The attention to detail is impressive—that pair of wall hangings either side of the doorway, the floor tiling, that intricate ceiling. They even had two mannequins dressed in traditional Chinese garb standing in the corner—or they actual live ushers?
Isn’t this grand? Would love to have been there in the ’30s and ’40s soaking up all the atmosphere.
Martin, you sure find some real treasures! YOU are a treasure. Thank you for posting all these wonderful pics!
