Okay, so this one is probably for the more hardcore Los Angeles/Hollywood history nerds. This photo takes us inside the home of popular and respected movie director William Desmond Taylor at 404 S. Alvarado St. For a while in 1922, this was the most famous address in LA when Taylor was found murdered on February 1st. His death caused a sensation when two very big stars at the time – Mabel Normand and Mary Miles Minter – became suspects. If you want to know more about it, read “Tinseltown” by William J. Mann—aside from solving the as yet officially unsolved murder, it paints a glorious picture of 1920s Hollywood.
