Alla Nazimova doll & hair tonic bottle

Rare French doll of Alla NazimovaI don’t quite know what to make of this one. I found it on a Pinterest page of boudoir dolls (whatever they are) and captioned “Very Rare French doll (Nazimova).” So I guess it’s a doll of Alla Nazimova (the original owner of the Garden of Allah Hotel) with a bottle of her own Nazimova Hair Tonic. I’d never heard of that tonic before so I googled it and found only one reference.

From the Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office, Volume 203 from 1914:

  1. Hi – French dolls were very fashionable when I was a kid. They were meant to sit on the pillows of your bed and had very beautiful heads then a beautiful gown, but no body. I always loved mine. Your friend, Lou
