This is the coffee shop attached to the Biltmore Hotel, at the corner of 5th and Grand in downtown Los Angeles, opposite Pershing Square. This photo is circa 1939. Within a couple of years, the war would be on and this coffee shop would be serving thousands of meals a day. (Note the sign: “Breakfast from 25c.” This photo made me realize we don’t see revolving doors anymore—I kind of miss them.
