The bar at Irving Thalberg's beach house, Santa Monica, circa 1930Here we can see the bar at Irving Thalberg’s beach house in Santa Monica beach, circa 1930. From what we can see, it looks delightfully art deco, but my first thought was “It’s rather small, considering whose bar it is.” Then I remembered, this is 1930, so Prohibition was still on—so why would anybody need a bar??? My 3rd thought was: “Imagine which famous butts parked themselves on those bar stools!”

    Love the very ’30s “look.” I read they liked to socialize, but considering there are only 3 bar stools here, maybe small intimate parties?!
