Even in a city known for its “anything goes” attitude toward architecture, this place is a standout. It is the 20,000-square-foot Castillo del Lago, a Spanish colonial style castle built by oil baron Patrick Longden in Beachwood Canyon, in 1926. In the 1930s, Gangster Bugsy Siegel ran a gambling operation out of the place. With 32 rooms, an elevator, and city and lake views, God only know what shenanigans went on up there.
Looks like it was cut right out of that hill. Such beautiful detail even in this night shot.
Here’s some footage of the home which was later owned by Madonna. Wish the history and early owners had been discussed. No respect!
