I’ve become so used to the superb Art Deco/Streamline Moderne sculpture sitting out front of the Hollywood Bowl that I’ve never really given much thought to what it replaced when it was constructed in 1940. Turns out there was just a wooden sign that looked like something from the set of “Lil Abner.”
