Gilmore Drive-in theater as seen from the top of the screen, Los Angeles, 1949In photos of drive-in theaters, we usually see photos of the screen. But in this shot from Life magazine in 1949, we see what drive-ins looked like from the point of view of the screen! This is the Gilmore Drive-In, which opened in 1948 on W. 3rd Street near the Farmers Market and what is now the Grove, and lasted until the mid 1970s.
