Transporting an animatronic elephant from Disney’s Burbank studios to Disneyland for the Jungle Cruise, 1962Here’s one for the “only in L.A.” file: a photo showing an animatronic elephant en route from Disney’s Burbank studios to Disneyland to be installed in the Jungle Cruise, circa late 1960s. I wonder if they did it on a Sunday when traffic would be easier, or if the freeway is empty because it’s 1962. Either way, that must have been a hell of a sight to see.

I think it was later than ’62 based on the cars on the freeway. The station wagon appears to be a ’69 Ford and the car ahead of it looks to be a ’71 Chevelle
