Grauman's Chinese Theatre the night of the theater's first premiere, Cecil B. DeMille's "The King of Kings", May 18, 1927What a big night this must have been. This fantastic aerial shot shows us the opening of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre when it hosted the premiere of Cecil B. DeMille’s “The King of Kings” on May 18, 1927. Hollywood Boulevard looks like it’s packed on both sides with movie fans—and if I’d been around back then, you can be sure I’d have elbowed my way to the front.

  1. Ah yes! I believe I see you – but perhaps not.
Such a great theatre – that and Carthay Circle were my 2 all-time fav movie theaters.
I want to thank you for re-connecting me with my former student Diane (Garcia) Parry. We are having a great time re-connecting after about 50 years. Bless you my dear friend and love always, Lou.

Martin, I’m no doubt somewhere in that crowd too haha

Here’s one of the (many) movie posters:

Thanks, Martin. And Louella, that’s wonderful that Martin helped reunite you with a friend. That’s what friends do for friends!

    Jean
