Looking north up Vine Street from Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, 1948

Looking north up Vine Street from Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, 1948Here we have a view, dated 1948, looking north up Vine Street from just south of Sunset Blvd, with the NBC Studios on the right, Wallich’s Music Center on the left, and farther up the street we can see the Broadway department store and the Brown Derby. These days of course, this same view is so much more crowded that I doubt anyone would be reckless enough to stand in the middle of Vine Street to take a picture like this.

  1. OMG, I can almost see my office (in the Taft Building, 5th floor, 1950-1954). Thank you my dear friend for posting.

Such a wonderful nostalgic shot. Sure wish it still looked like this. Love the street lamps and how you can faintly see “Hollywoodland” between the two buildings.

Yearn for those Golden days of Hollywood – ’30s and ’40s.

    Thanks, Martin.
