Wilshire Blvd looking west toward the building of the Wiltern Theater, 1930

Wilshire Blvd looking west toward the building of the Wiltern Theater, 1930We’re looking west along a sedate Wilshire Blvd, where parking isn’t a problem and nobody had to allow time for traffic or check for Sigalerts. On the left, the Pellissier Building is under construction, which dates this photo to 1930. The Pellissier houses the magnificent Wiltern Theater which at the time it opened was designed as a vaudeville house and called the Warner Brothers Western Theater.

The Pellessier Building is still with us in all its Art Deco magnificence:

  1. Martin. I absolutely love this photo; it tells you all you need to know about the area
when we moved to LA (1937). Love always, Lou.

Beautiful photos! What wonderful memories Louella must have when Hollywood was still the Hollywood we all love.

    Thanks, Martin.
