This shot of the Hollywoodland sign was taken in 1926, just three years after the sign went up on Mt. Lee. It would have still been fresh and new and clearly seen from miles around, especially seeing as how back then—unlike today—those Hollywood hills were still sparsely populated, as we can see here.
Like the old globe-style lamp post. In fact, I like everything about this pic.
Wonder if that is another (lit) lamp post under the first “D” in the Hollywoodland sign?
