Considering how busy and built-up the area around the Beverly Wilshire Hotel is these days, it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how empty that land was back in the 1930s. The car in the foreground is a 1937 Oldsmobile, so I’m guessing this photo is circa late 30s. We can juuuuuust see that Brown Derby Beverly Hills sign, so I’m guessing parking was never a problem if you wanted to eat there.
Love when photographers include atmosphere in their shots, in this case, the autos, lamp posts, a tease of the background. Even the tree. Just love old Hollywood and LA.
