Night shot of a Prohibition era political billboard VOTE DRY, South Central Los Angeles, 1916We think of Prohibition as being from 1920 to 1933, but until I saw this, I didn’t quite comprehend how much of a lead-up it took to put Prohibition into law. This “VOTE DRY” billboard is dated August 1916 and was put up in South Central Los Angeles by the “California Dry Headquarters” which apparently had 49 precincts!
